Jack Stewart Jr. Passes Away at 62

Jack M. Stewart Jr. died unexpectedly on Nov. 16, 2020 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 62.

He was born on March 23, 1958 in Hermiston to Jack Sr. and Shirley Stewart.

Jack was raised in Hermiston, Phoenix, Ariz. and Yakima, Wash. He worked in the grocery business in Yakima and Omak, Wash. with his father in his teens and early twenties and then in Pilot Rock. In 1983, he became a reserve deputy. His dream since childhood was to be a cop. That dream came to fruition in 1986 when he became a deputy for Umatilla County. He proudly served our community for 25 years and retired in December 2011. He made many friends from all walks of life during his career. Jack loved to listen to and make music when the opportunity arose. Jack was devoted to Jesus Christ and loved studying the Bible and sharing his faith with family and friends. His family was most important to him. Never a day would pass that he didn’t let one know they were loved. Jack is survived by daughters, Cacey (Justin) Knight, Goodyear, Ariz. and Jeni (Caleb) Paris, Hermiston; sister, Debbie (Ron) Myers, Hermiston; stepbrother, Bill (Angie) Bernard, Roseville, Calif.; six beautiful granddaughters, Peyton, Hope, LeeAnne, Bailey, Aviana and Skye Lynn; uncle, Tom Stewart; aunt, Elaine Clark; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, father and stepmother, Fran Stewart; sister, Karen Murphy; and a brother, Richard Stewart.

At Jack’s request, there will be no services.

A private burial was held on Nov. 21, 2020.
