Umatilla County Health today reported the 73rd death in the county due to coronavirus.
Umatilla County’s 73rd death with COVID-19 is a 70-year-old male who tested positive Jan. 4 and died Jan. 20 at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center in Gresham.
On Friday, the county health department reported the 72nd death in Umatilla County due to COVID, a 76-year-old male who tested positive Jan. 12 and died Jan. 16 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston.
The health department today also reported 70 new cases of COVID-19.
Today’s numbers – which include new cases reported Friday through Sunday – bring the county’s overall total to 7,062 There are currently 326 presumed cases of COVID-19 – unchanged from Friday.

Umatilla County officials reiterated their advice to residents to take precautions against the spread of COVID-19:
To protect your health and the health of others, be sure to wear a mask, wash your hands and practice social distancing. It is imperative that any person who is exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness stay home. UCo Health continues to discover instances where individuals are continuing to work while sick. Now, more than ever, it is important for businesses to ensure that employees are not coming to work sick. Employees may feel internal and external pressure to work through mild illness. Businesses are encouraged to develop flexible leave policies to support employees who become ill and establish procedures for sending employees who are not feeling well home. Anyone who is exhibiting any symptoms of respiratory illness must stay home from work for 72-hours after all symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, diarrhea, etc.) have resolved.
WHEN and WHERE will seniors be able to get vaccinated? The information changes daily = sometimes hourly. Why don’t you have a registration site set up so people can pre-register and not just be “first come, first served” if they HAPPEN to see an accurate story about vaccine clinics?
