Janet Ruth Ward of Hermiston passed away in Portland on Feb. 18, 2021 at the age of 67.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1953 in Rockville, Utah to Wayne and Millie (Workman) DeMille.
Janet lived in Utah during her early childhood until moving with her family to Hermiston in 1970. She graduated from Hermiston High School in 1971. After high school, she attended college in Rexburg, Idaho and later at Brigham Young University. She then served her mission for the LDS church in Las Vegas, Nev. She later returned to Hermiston, where she had resided throughout her adult life. She worked for Simplot for several years, and more recently she worked for Lamb Weston. She also was a substitute middle school teacher in the Hermiston School District.
Janet enjoyed sewing and quilting, was an avid reader, and was actively involved with the Hermiston Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Janet married James Ward in June 1980. The couple divorced many years later.
She is survived by sons, Garrison (Kyla) Ward and Gared (Sarah) Ward; seven grandchildren; brother, Ken DeMille; sisters, Carol Beckstead and Darlene DeMille; and many extended family members.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held.
Burial will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.
