Jared Payne

Jerad Scott Payne died on July 27, 2021 while at home in Hermiston at age 32.

He was born on Aug. 16, 1988 in Richland, Wash. to Michael and Pamela Payne.

His latest job was delivering propane (or as he said, “Ya know, I’m like Hank on King of the Hill.”). He was proud to be able to have and hold special certifications. In fact, just recently while crossing the street, he mentioned he had some special license where he could stop traffic if needed. But there were no cars so I told him we were fine. As most of you know, he had many careers, from Subway to Home Depot, a few days as a prison guard to years at a night club, from selling Cutco knives to being “your friendly neighborhood car guy.” He was most proud of his CDL though, which he was able to use for a few jobs during the last few years.

At a young age Jerad wanted a family, not just a girlfriend or dog, but kids and a wife. His family was his joy. Yes, he liked movies and food, but his family is what his passion was. He met Ashlei about six years ago, when he basically adopted Jenna and Carter as his own. Jerad and Ashlei had two girls of their own: Riley, almost age 5 and Parker, who just turned 1. He had too many pets to mention, but the picture above shows his love for animals.

Jerad enjoyed shopping at second hand stores and looked for anything “old and cool.” He also liked fishing, camping, music and some good ol’ karaoke. You would find him at the kids’ ball games, concerts, and helping with homework. A famous saying around the house was “safety first… then team work.”

Jerad is survived by his father, Mike Payne; sisters, Amanda Anderson and Jamie Payne; brother, Justin Payne; and many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, as you can see here today.

Jerad was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Payne; cousin, Christy Payne; grandparents, Dave and Jackie Payne; and grandmother, Lucille Willet.

A remembrance of Jerad’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Community Bible Church, 5807 Umatilla Ave., Kennewick, Wash., 99336.
