James A. “Jim” Ellenberger of Stanfield died on Aug. 11, 2017 in Richland, Wash. at the age of 72.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1945 in Pendleton to Albert and Lucille Graham Ellenberger.
He was raised and attended schools in Stanfield, graduating from Stanfield High School in 1963. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman/conductor until retiring in 1992. He served as governor of the Stanfield Moose Lodge, served on the Stanfield City Council, and served as director of the Stanfield Senior Center for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, clamming, hot tubbing, swimming, and spending winters in Florida for several years.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy Ellenberger, Stanfield and Tadlee Ellenberger, Pensacola, Fla.; daughter, Tina Martin, Stanfield; brothers, Jerry Ellenberger, Heppner and Chris Ellenberger, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; grandchildren, Brandon, Abigail, Joshua, Michael, Joey, Julia, Jenna and Jake; and great grandson, Ezra.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Ketcherside.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1005 S.E. Ninth St. in Hermiston.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield.
