Jim A. Marker of Hermiston passed away at his home in Hermiston on June 14, 2023 at the age of 86.
He was born on March 16, 1937 in Emmett, Idaho to Floyd and Mary Leone Rivers Marker.
As a child Jim moved to Hermiston with his family, where he attended school and graduated from Hermiston High School. In his youth, he traveled extensively throughout the great Northwest as a member of The Traveleers music group, which included Charley Pride and Bonnie Guitar. Later he moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, joined another music group, then moved to Craig, Alaska for much of his adult life, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Phoenix Log. He next lived in Seattle, Wash. for several years. Upon retiring, he and his wife moved to Chapala, Mexico before returning to Hermiston in 2006.
Jim was an avid gardener and took great pride in growing vegetables, plants and flowers. He also had a knack for restoring clocks and antique furniture and repairing old motorcycles.
Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty; seven children; two step-children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and close friends.
At his request, no services will be held.
