James Ellis “Jim” Waldo of Hermiston went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Oct. 24 at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
Born in Flint, Mich. on Nov. 15, 1957 to George Waldo and Rosetta Armstrong Waldo, Jim was the second youngest child and the only son. Jim and his family lived in Michigan, Washington, and Alaska before settling in Hermiston in 1992 where he continued to grow and flourish.
Jim’s life was a testament to his love for God and his family. He cherished the beauty of the outdoors and found joy in riding his motorcycle, creating many treasured memories along the way. A devoted powerlifter and bodybuilder, Jim often spent time in his second home – the gym – where his dedication and passion were evident.
Jim leaves behind his loving children, James Waldo (Chantel), Jennifer Jentzsch (Bryce), and Derrick Dix (Kristin); and his beloved grandchildren, Aidan, Willow, Kai, Kendyl, Daphne, Gemma, Gianna, and Braydin. He is also remembered fondly by his supportive sisters, Debbie Byron, Sherry Gilliand, and Nellie Troit.
He was preceded in death by his dear parents, George and Rose, whose presence he now joyfully reunites with in heaven.
A joint funeral service for Rose and her son, Jim Waldo will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.
The family invites all to a reception at OMG Burger at 5 p.m., where we will come together to share stories and celebrate Jim and his mother Rose’s remarkable lives. You are also welcome to share your memories with the family at http://www.burnsmortuaryhermiston.com.
May Jim’s spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts as we honor his legacy of love and faith.
