Jimmie Don Himes of Hermiston passed away on Jan. 28, 2019 near Hermiston at the age of 72.
He was born on May 21, 1946 in Yakima, Wash. to William and Juanita Payne Himes.
Jimmie grew up in Yakima where he attended school. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and worked in various areas. He worked as a motel manager in the communities of Port Townsend and Cooley City, Wash. for many years. He had lived in the Hermiston area for the past 10 years.
Jimmie loved antiquing, fishing and camping. He had an artistic ability and used that ability to make many creations. He also enjoyed leather working, was a talented carpenter and had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Angie Himes; grandchildren, William, Dionicio, Skylar and Katelyn; great grandchildren, Koa and Aria; nephews, Jimmy, Mike and Justin; niece, Brenda; caregiver, dear friend and adopted daughter, Rachel Dunn; and special girl, his dog Ditzy (also known as Boobaloo).
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Lynn Himes; his parents; four sisters, Nadine, Virginia, Reba and Loretta; and brother, Cecil.
No formal services are planned.
Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of final arrangements.
