JoAnne Boughton died on May 24, 2019 at her home in Irrigon at the age of 85 with loving daughter Christine by her side.
She was born on May 6, 1934 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Walter and Clara Hemminger Schoenhofen.
JoAnne was raised and attended schools in California. She married Charles Boughton on Aug. 27, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in Moorpark, Calif., where they owned and operated a horse boarding business for several years. They later moved to Lisbon, N.Y., where they owned and operated a dairy farm. JoAnne moved to South Carolina for a short time before moving to Texas, before returning to live with daughter Christine in California, who was her best friend. They moved to Irrigon in 2013, where they have lived since.
JoAnne enjoyed horses, reading, the internet, music, dancing and shopping.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Sunny Boughton, Texas, Leslie Wade Boughton, Washington, and Robert Everett Nelson, Hermiston; daughters, Christine Hazel Boughton, Irrigon and Denise Rose Richey, South Carolina; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Spencer Boughton; a son, Clarence Olen Nelson; and her parents.
