The Umatilla and Hermiston chambers of commerce along Umatilla Community Development Department will host an event focusing on the housing, transportation and transit opportunities in the area.
The “Jobs, Housing and Transit Fair” will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16 at the Umatilla High School commons area.
The event seeks to bring job seekers and employers together and provide information about housing, transportation and transit opportunities.
JOBS: Anyone searching for a full time, part time or a summer job should come prepared with a resume. Numerous local employers from the region will be at the event. Many of the businesses will be handing out job applications and recruiting.
Some of the employers that will be present include Amazon Web Services, Walmart DC, Express Employment Professionals, Columbia River Health, Umatilla/Morrow Head Start and Umatilla County Veteran’s Services as well as many more employers.
TRANSIT: Since transportation in the rural area can be challenging, there will be information on transportation schedules, Umatilla Cab Company and commuter options. Additionally, the state of Oregon and KAYAK will be present to talk about future transit options in the city and throughout the greater West Umatilla County and North Morrow County regions.
HOUSING: There are many new housing options available in Umatilla. People interested in learning about lands zoned for housing or to lean about housing programs and services will be able to talk with city and agency staff. City staff will also follow up to questions that cannot be answered at the event. Columbia Basin Board of Realtors will also be represented at the event as well.
There will be free refreshments and door prizes. Amazon Web Services will be drawing for two Amazon Alexa Echos. For questions about the event you may call the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce at 541-567-6151.
