Joey Duff

Joe Anne “Joey” Duff died on April 24, 2018 at Guardian Angel Homes in Hermiston at the age of 84.

She was born on April 17, 1934 in Rouge River to Walter and Ruth Combs.

When she was two, her family moved to California, living in Wilmington, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Arkada, Weed, Bakersfield, Castro Valley, Hayward, Big Lagoon, Gualala, and Patrick’s Point. She graduated from Pointe Arena High School. Her family also lived a short time in Tonopah, Nev.

On June 10, 1952 after graduation, she married Robert (Bob) Duff in Cheyenne, Wyo. while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Bob joined an international construction company after his military service, which took the family to nine different states and South America. Joey became an expert at moving before settling in the Hermiston area in 1977.

Joey was a devout Christian and throughout the years was involved in numerous churches in Hermiston. She always wanted more in her relationship with God, never satisfied, always wanting to be a better Christian and a beacon of God’s light for those she knew and those she would come in contact with. Some described her as being exuberant about her relationship with God. Throughout the years in Hermiston, she was involved in Aglow, National Day of Prayer, Campus Life, Christian Athletes, See You at the Pole and feeding the homeless, and she served as Good Shepherd Hospital chaplain. She spent countless hours driving through Hermiston praying for revival.

She is survived by daughters, Debby (Virgil) Culver of Goldendale, Wash., Laura (Larry) Harsin of Pendleton, and Lisa (Mike) Bunch of Kennewick, Wash.; 25 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; husband; and her only son, Richard.

Celebration services will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Hermiston Christian Center, 1825 W. Highland Ave. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Stanfield.
