John C. Armentrout of Hermiston died on Jan. 8, 2024 in Hermiston at the age of 79.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1944 in Trenton, Mich. to Byron and Sarah Armentrout.
John grew up in Allen Park, Mich. and graduated from Allen Park High School in 1962. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from Jan. 3, 1963 to March 5, 1969.
In 1973 John married the love of his life, Bonnie, and raised a family. He loved spending time with family fishing, hunting, camping, creating lawn ornaments, going to auctions and cooking on the Traeger. John enjoyed his job at Ace Hardware, where he could help customers with their projects. John and Bonnie loved spending time at the Oregon coast and would spend as much time as possible there.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Armentrout, Hermiston; daughter, Bernice Hensley (Brian) Marion, North Carolina; daughter, Barbara Howard (Dan) Alamogordo, New Mexico; daughter, Stacy Skinner (Adrian), Hermiston; son, John Armentrout II (Rebekah), Pasco, Wash.;16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
