Joyce Chizek Passes Away at 83

Helen “Joyce” Chizek passed away on July 7, 2020 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 83.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1936 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Thelma Louise Johnson Silcox and Roy DeMarquis Silcox.

She attended schools in Twin Falls and Blackfoot, Idaho and was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. Joyce studied piano as a child and always enjoyed performing as both a pianist and a singer. She and her mother often performed at various church and public events. In her younger years she worked in the Relief Society and primary as a teacher and sang in the church choir.

Joyce enjoyed traveling and especially spending time at the ocean. She loved reading and growing flowers, but the most important part of her life was her family and spending time with them.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Chizek of Hermiston; sons, Christopher Chizek of Seattle and Mark Morgan (Shelli) of Rathdrum, Idaho; daughters, Debbie Hood (Kevin) of Kennewick, Wash. and Lori Myers (Rob) of Condon; grandson, Shane Roubidoux of Hermiston; granddaughters, Brianna Quigley (Marc) of Kennewick, Wash. and Jennifer DeLauney (Jeff) of Puyallup, Wash.; three great grandsons; and brother, Dave Deveraux of St. George, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers, Wayne Deveraux and Jay Deveraux; and dear daughter, Thelma Gay Roubidoux who passed away on May 11, 2013.

At Joyce’s request, there will be no funeral. A private graveside service for family members will be at a later date.
