Amado Victor “JR” Nino of Hermiston passed away in Hermiston on Jan. 9, 2024 at the age of 63.
He was born on Feb. 17, 1960 in Dimmitt, Texas to Amado Vargas Nino and Michaela Delgado, becoming a true Dallas Cowboy fan.
Amado was raised in Mud Lake, Idaho with his sister, Helen and younger brothers, Jimmy, Tommy and Daniel.
Amado started his career of being a truck driver of over 40 years at an early age of 15. He drove truck for several different companies throughout his career. He continued working for local trucking companies once he moved to Hermiston in 1990.
Amado and Lisa were married on Sept. 2, 1986. They went on to raise three children, Lyssa, 41 of Pocatello, Idaho, and Ty, 36 and McKenzie, 35, both of Hermiston.
On Jan. 10, 2014, Amado was diagnosed with colon cancer. For the next 10 years you would find him spending time with family. He attended as many of the grandkids’ activities as he could – sporting events, concerts and graduations, as well as weddings. If he wasn’t hanging out with family, he was out on a lake or river casting a pole with his fishing buddies. Amado lost his battle with cancer on Jan. 9, 2024, one day short of 10 years.
Amado Victor is survived by his wife, Lisa; son, Ty; daughters, McKenzie (Freddy) and Lyssa; siblings, Helen, Jimmy, Tommy and Daniel; grandchildren, Trystan, Nataley and Ely Sauer, Kane, Joel, Gracie, Paige and Rhoen Nino, and Julian Nino-Gonzalez; and great-grandchild, Brylee Sauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amado and Michalea and grandson, Payton Sauer.
Viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19 (Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6 p.m.) and Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Burns Mortuary Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel.
A private family burial will be in the Hermiston Cemetery.
