June Hanson Passes Away at 88

June Hanson

June A. Hanson of Hermiston, former Nebraska resident, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024 in Richland, Wash. at the age of 88.

She was born on June 15, 1935 in Steele City, Neb. to Paul and Myrtle Johnson Miller.

She graduated from Fairbury High School in 1952 where she met her husband, A. Wilber Hanson. They were married on Sept. 21, 1952 and enjoyed 70 years together. Together they raised two children, Don and Lisa.

June lived a full and vibrant life. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including bowling, crocheting, and snow and water skiing. She also loved playing bridge, cribbage and a variety of other games. She was an avid fan of Husker football and volleyball and loved cheering on the Kansas City Royals. She also proudly sold cosmetics for 15 years and was able to earn a new car every other year.

June is survived by her loving family: her son, Don (Jeanne) Hanson; her daughter, Lisa (Don) Ellicott; her grandsons, Rusty (Tina) Hanson, Toby (Cori) Hanson, Kresimir (Stephanie) Jambresic (Yahm-bre-sich) and Jason (Avalisa) Ellicott; her granddaughters, Courtney (Brian) Morter and Kim (Josh) Mueller; and her 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Arend, Sharon (Delvin) Finlayson, and Darlene (Mike) Harris.

June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, A. Wilber Hanson.

June will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service to honor June’s life will be held in Lincoln, Neb. at a later date.
