The Kamiakin Braves scored early and often Friday night in their 40-7 win over the Hermiston Bulldogs at Lampson Field in Kennewick.
The Braves jumped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead and poured it on in the second quarter, scoring three times to take a 37-0 halftime lead.
Kamiakin added a third-quarter field goal before Hermiston got on the board in the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass from Sam Schwirse to Garrett Walchli.
Hermiston’s running game was completely shut down Friday night. The Bulldogs managed just 5 yards on the ground on 18 carries. Schwirse finished the night completing 17 of 24 passes for 116 yards and one interception.
Trevor Wagnor led the Bulldogs with 6 receptions and Broc Remmer led the team in receiving yardage with 62. Wagnor and Sam Cadenas led Hermiston with 8 tackles each.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Hermiston. The Bulldogs, 1-7 in Mid-Columbia Conference play and 1-8 overall, will finish the season next Friday with a nonconference home game against North Central out of Spokane.
