Karen S. Garcia died on May 29, 2019 at her home in Umatilla at the age of 62.
She was born on July 3, 1956 in Kennewick, Wash. to Harvie and Grace “Pat” Griswold Dunn.
Karen married Pompello Garcia on Feb. 13, 1975. She worked for many years as a cashier at Bi-Mart in Hermiston, where she greeted everyone with a smile. Karen found joy in helping others and often made home-cooked meals for anyone in need. She was known for being kind and loving and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Karen cherished time with her children and grandchildren who brought her so much joy and happiness.
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 44 years, Pompello Garcia; sons, David M. Garcia and Michael J. Garcia; daughters, Maria Garcia Montoya and Darcy M. Garcia Dixon; mother, Patricia “Pat” White; brother, Jeffrey Dunn; grandchildren, Gabriel Montoya, Lilliana Montoya, Oliver Dixon, Troyan Garcia, Sienna Garcia and Avery Garcia; and great grandchild, Boston Hart Powers.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Harvie Dunn; stepmother, Louelle Dunn; and Darcey Lynn Scott.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 6 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Hermiston.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Umatilla.
