Kathy Jensen of Hermiston Passes Away at 69

Katherine J. “Kathy” Quimby Carter Jensen died on Jan. 1, 2018 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 69.

She was born on June 24, 1948 in Prairie City to Philip and Alice Case Quimby.

Kathy was raised in Grant and Umatilla counties, graduating from Long Creek High School in Long Creek. She married Douglas Carter, and they had two sons, Samuel and Daniel, and later divorced. Kathy moved to Hermiston and married Noel Jensen. They moved to McMinnville, where they owned and operated the Saw Filing Company for a time before settling in Shelton, Wash., where they owned and operated Shelton Saw Works for many years.

Kathy moved to Hermiston in 2017. She was a member of Harstine Island Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing cards, flowers, gardening, traveling and cooking. She was very social and never knew a stranger.

She is survived by her sons, Samuel Carter (Alicia), Edmonds, Wash. and Daniel Carter, Boardman; stepdaughters, Kim Wilson, Julie Young and Angie Jensen; brother, Donald Albert, Hermiston; grandchildren, Logan, Rylie, Brianna, Austin, Marie and Mark; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston.

A graveside committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 at Long Creek Cemetery.
