The Hermiston School District has been selected by the Oregon School Activities Association to host two OSAA football playoff games at Kennison Field on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The 3A semifinal football playoff game between Vale and Scio will kick off at 11 a.m., and the 1A game between Crane and Adrian will start at 3 p.m..

Tickets will be available on Saturday morning at the Kennison Field ticket booth, starting at 10 a.m. Prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students; tickets are valid for both games.

According to the district’s 2013-14 economic impact study, conducted by ECONorthwest, due to the district’s ability to recruit and host events such as regional and state playoffs, HSD was able to generate over $4 million and 44 jobs as a result of its accommodating infrastructure. Study data shows that visitors spent an average of $60.48 per day within the community.

“The district’s ability to host OSAA playoff games is not only a benefit to Hermiston, but also to our region,” said Communications Officer Briana Cortaberria. “The district is proud to partner with OSAA and provide a playoff location closer to home for our regional teams. Playing in Hermiston allows more spectators to attend and decreases the need of overnight stays.”

In addition to the upcoming state semi-final football playoff games, this past fall HSD hosted six collegiate soccer matches and four high school soccer playoff games. Looking into next spring, the district is poised to host four college track meets, including the Cascade Conference district meet.

The OSAA Radio Network will live stream the games online. The NFHS Network will also stream OSAA semifinal and state championship games. Games may be watched on demand and DVDS may be purchased at the same link.

Additional information about the economic impact to Hermiston and region may be found on the district website.
