Larry Vernon Bennett of Irrigon passed away in Irrigon on June 30, 2024 at the age of 85.
He was born on June 30, 1939 in Ely, Nev. to Vernon Bennett and Lillian Baker Piscovich.
Larry grew up and attended school in Ely, Nev. After high school he attended two years of college. He then served in the U.S. Air Force for a while. As a young adult, he moved to Oregon and lived in the Eugene and Springfield areas for many years. In 1981 he moved to Eastern Oregon, living in Hermiston for many years, then moved to Irrigon in 1999.
Larry worked at several jobs such as a well driller and in construction, where he installed manufactured homes for several years.
Larry enjoyed tinkering with projects such as repairing old fishing poles and repairing lawn mowers, and he was an excellent mechanic who could repair most anything and enjoyed fishing on the Snake River.
Larry married Shirley Jenks in Vancouver, Wash. on June 22, 1964.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; daughter, Deborah Pettey; son, Jeff Rosevear; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Carol House; brothers, Donnie Ward, Butch Piscovich and Bundy Piscovich; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy; daughter, Deborah; his parents; and a sister, Sheryl.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
