Larry Lytle Passes Away at 69

Larry Phillip Lytle passed away at his home in Umatilla on Feb. 4, 2023 at the age of 69.

He was born in Spangler, Pa. on July 31, 1953.

Larry enlisted in the Navy in 1972 and served his country for four years. He then went on to serve almost 40 years as a correctional officer in several prisons all over the state of Oregon, being promoted and working as a captain for the last 20 years before his passing. Larry married Deborah Lytle on Feb. 13, 1994. Together they spent their lives living in various places before finally settling in Umatilla, where Larry worked as a captain at Two Rivers Correctional Institution. They had a daughter together, Sarah. Larry loved his country, golf and chess, but his greatest treasure was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughter, Sarah (Derek Marks), four grandchildren, Patrick, Noah, Everleigh and Taileigh, all of Umatilla; brother, Roy; sisters, Sylinda and Laverna of Salem; and another brother, John from Anaheim, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023 at 5 p.m. at First Christian Church, 775 W. Highland Ave., Hermiston.
