Four musical acts — including headliner Banda Rancho Viejo — will take the stage during Latino Night during the 2024 Umatilla County Fair.

Fair Manager Angie McNalley said Alacranes Musical also is returning to this year’s event.

The band was featured during the 2019 fair, however, she said their show was cut short because of inclement weather.

“We brought them back for a full show,” McNalley said.

For a second year in a row, the Latino Night dance and concert will be held on Saturday evening — Aug. 10 — during fair week.

The outdoor concert area opens at 7 p.m. at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center.

McNalley said Miguel Velasco, who helps coordinate talent for the show, requested the change to make it more convenient for Hispanic community members, who are often busy with the harvest season, to attend.

The schedule of acts includes Rebeldes de la Sierra at 7:30 p.m., followed by Alacranes Musical at 9 p.m.; Banda Rancho Viejo at 10:15 p.m. and closing out the night is Los Canarios de Michoacan at 11:35 p.m.

With millions of followers, Banda Rancho Viejo was founded in 2006 in El Limon de los Peraza.

Band leader Julio Cesar Aramburo Aramburo and his father, Julian Aramburo Perez, chose the group’s name based on the history of their small town in Sinaloa, Mexico.

Known for their contagious energy on stage, their sounds range from emotional ballads to lively dance songs.

Their third album, “Soy Malandrín,” included “Amor a la Lightly,” which resulted in widespread airplay across Mexican radio stations.

Also, the group’s sixth release, “Dejando Huella,” earned a Latin Grammy nomination for “Best Band Music Album.”

Formed in 1996, Alacranes Musical (translated as Musical Scorpions) performs Duranguense, a subgenre of regional Mexican music. In 2007, their album, “Ahora Y Siempre,” was nominated for a Latin Grammy. They have four No. 1 hits and 13 in the top 10 on the Billboard charts.

Tickets for the Latino Night concert and dance are $50 each. Fair admission is included with advance ticket sales before Aug. 10.

Tickets can be purchased at www.umatillacountyfair.net, the fair office at EOTEC or Velasco Used Car Sales, 80596 N. Highway 395, Hermiston. For questions call 541-567-6121 or email fair@umatillacounty.gov.
