Laurie S. Ball Kiser died on June 19, 2017 in Hermiston at the age of 64.
She was born on June 5, 1953 in La Grande to Elmer and Dorothy Warner Davis.
She was raised and attended schools in La Grande, graduating from La Grande High School. She then graduated from Eastern Oregon with a bachelor degree in education. She taught public school in La Grande and Condon before settling in Hermiston, where she taught for many years. She then was a guest teacher in Umatilla, Stanfield and Hermiston until her health recently would not allow her to work.
She was united in marriage to Joseph J. Kiser on June 12, 2004 in Hermiston. She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she served as choir director for several years. She was active in many groups and organizations: Sweet Adelines; organized the Dutch Oven Cookoff; on the board of the Hermiston Warming Station; and served as the director of the Community Fellowship Dinners. She was recognized as the Hermiston Volunteer of the Year and received the Good Shepherd Spirit of Christmas Award. She enjoyed music and playing games.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Kiser, Hermiston; stepchildren, John Kiser, Minnesota and Jennifer Hollenbeck, Portland; brothers, Richard Davis, Nevada and Loren Davis, Portland; grandchildren, Madison, Nicholas, Piper, John and Darby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 775 W. Highland Ave. in Hermiston.
