The fourth annual Holiday Toy Drive, an effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies and Walmart Transportation, takes place this weekend, Dec. 3-4 at the Walmart stores in Pendleton and Hermiston.
The toy drive began when Umatilla County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Ellwood’s young daughter was diagnosed with cancer, and she wanted to give back to the hospitals and do a toy drive for the children.
This Saturday and Sunday, local officers and Walmart drivers will be collecting gifts for children and families having to spend the holidays in local and regional children’s hospitals and Ronald McDonald house locations. The public can come to the stores between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to donate toys.
