Law Enforcement Searching for Kidnapping, Shooting Suspect

The Oregon State Police and area law enforcement are searching for people responsible for the alleged kidnapping and shooting of a man Thursday morning.

Around 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 21, the OSP along with the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and the Boardman Police Department responded to a report of male suffering from a gunshot wound at the Love’s Truck Stop near exit 159 in Morrow County.

Law enforcement found a 48-year old-male inside a private vehicle suffering from a single gunshot wound. The adult male with a last known address in Eugene was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center for treatment.

According to the OSP, the victim was shot at another location and transported to Love’s Truck Stop by a citizen who was waived down by the victim on Interstate 84 near milepost 151. The victim told police that he was kidnapped and dropped off near milepost 151 (Tower Road Exit). The victim told officers his abductors were operating a maroon van who fled the scene in an unknown direction. There is no evidence at this time indicating there is a threat to the general public regarding this incident.

The Oregon State Police Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and reported abduction with assistance from the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Boardman Police Department, Hermiston Police Department, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Local investigators have also been assisted in the investigation by law enforcement agencies in the Portland Metro area, Willamette Valley, and state of Washington.
