This year’s Hermiston Leadership Class will be putting on an inaugural Duck Race and Family Fun Event in Riverfront Park on June 1 to help raise money for scholarships.
The event goes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Families can bring a picnic lunch and engage in activities that range from giant inflatable obstacle course, Knockerball and for the little ones, a Bounce House. Music, face-painting and the inaugural duck race will make this a one of a kind event in Hermiston.
Admission to the park is free and tickets for activities will be sold by vendors with a portion of proceeds given to the cause. Ducks are being sold at participating businesses for $5. There is a limit of 2,000 total.
These adopted ducks will be dropped in the river at 12 noon. The person whose ticket matches the numbered duck that moves fastest down the river to the finish line and is scooped up first wins $1,000. Five other prizes will be given to the next five ducks scooped who complete the race.
Ducks can be purchased at nearby vendors including Toyota, the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce, Hermiston Parks & Recreation, Atkinson Staffing, Columbia Bank, O’Reillys, the city of Umatilla, ACE, Umpqua, Umatilla Electric Cooperative, and Delish.
