Connect 2 Oregon events highlight government contracting opportunities

Small businesses and other groups interested in learning about contracting opportunities with government agencies have three chances in May to learn how they might get a piece of the action.

The Connect 2 Oregon events are sponsored by several state agencies hoping to increase awareness and completion for local, state and federal bids on various projects, products and services. The events are free and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Locations, dates and links to registration sites are as follows:

Ontario: Tuesday, May 17 (Click to Register)

Pendleton: Wednesday, May 18 (Click to Register)

The Dalles: Thursday, May 19 (Click to Register)

Event attendees will get an opportunity to …
• Learn what government agencies are buying in your area.
• Learn tips to respond to bids and requests for proposals.
• Learn the many benefits of being certified through state and federal programs and why it is important.
• Understand how to do business with DOC Correctional Facilities and what they buy.
• Meet Oregon’s Small Business Assistance Office staff and learn how they can help with challenges when interacting with Oregon governments.

Agency representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide technical guidance to clarify the contracting and procurement processes.

“This is a great opportunity to gain inside knowledge of the government procurement process, and see the value and potential in growth of your customer base,” said Kelly Stevens-Malnar of the Oregon Small Business Programs & Outreach.

The free event is being co-hosted by local Small Business Development Centers.
