Hermiston Public Library
The Traveling Lantern Theater Co., will present "A Christmas Carol" at the Hermiston Public LIbrary at 3 p.m. on Dec. 6.

The Hermiston Public Library is asking for 15 minutes of silence on May 28 in order for the community to read in peace.

The library announced Tuesday that it is participating in the Stop Drop and Read program. It’s a statewide effort to foster an all-ages culture of reading in Oregon.

The program costs nothing and simply asks that individuals have a book ready so that at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 28 – wherever they are – they can stop what they’re doing, drop everything (except their book) and read for up to 15 minutes.

Unsure of what to read? Stop by the library and its staff can provide you with some great suggestions for all age groups and interests.

For more information, call the library at 567-2882.
