The Red & Gena Leonard Foundation is accepting applications for college scholarships to local students.
The foundation will award scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $2,400 per student. Students need not be high school seniors and the scholarships can be re-applied for each year.
To be eligible, students must have a 2.0 GPA and plan to attend an Oregon college. Some exceptions may be made for applicants with a GPA under 2.0 and for students seeking training that is unavailable in Oregon. Applicants must also seek work in a trade or “family wage” profession. Special consideration will be given to students studying agriculture, welding, diesel mechanics, industrial arts, or trades such as electrician, plumbing, HVAC and nursing.
Over the years, the foundation has awarded more than 1,600 scholarships to local students totaling more than $3.1 million.
