Longtime Hermiston businessman Jack Sobotta has died at the age of 81.
Sobotta, who owned Hermiston Drug for 27 years, died Tuesday at his home in Hermiston.
He was born in Lewiston, Mont., and was was raised in Lapwai, Idaho on the Nez Perce Reservation, which helped spur a lifelong interest in Native American culture. He earned his degree at the Washington State University College of Pharmacy in 1956. Ten years later, he and his wife, Eileen, moved to Hermiston where he went to work at Hermiston Drug. He and his brother, Jerry, bought Hermiston Drug as well as Orchard Pharmacy in 1971, which he operated until his retirement in 1998.
Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.
