Geneva Faye Sowell
Geneva Faye Sowell
A longtime Hermiston resident died on Dec. 4, surrounded by her family.

Geneva Faye Sowell, 81, had lived in Hermiston for more than 50 years. She and her husband, Dale Sowell, were married on Feb. 27, 1950 in Lewiston, Idaho and lived in Pilot Rock until moving to Hermiston in 1962.

Sowell had a large family and she and her husband traveled and visited most of the United States. They took annual camping trips to Sumpter with family and friends. She loved seafood and enjoyed going crabbing on the Oregon Coast every year.

Family members say she always spent time with her children; she played cards with her daughter, Sandy, had lunch every Wednesday with her son, Steve, hung out with her son, Roger, fished with her son, Mike, and hunted with her son, Danny.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2260 N.E. Fourth St., in Hermiston.
