Linda L. Holden, longtime Umatilla resident, died on Jan., 2014 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash., at the age of 68.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1945 in San Bernardino, Calif., to Robert S. and Barbara Fenne Cox. Linda was raised and attended schools in Texas until the age of 12 when the family moved to Tennessee. She graduated from Frayser High School in Memphis, Tenn. The family then moved to the Seattle area.
She attended Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon to pursue a career as a religious educator. Linda married Bob Holden on March 23, 1968 in Seattle. They lived in California for a short time and then moved to Guam. In 1975 they settled in Umatilla where she has called home since. She had worked as a ward clerk at the Good Shepherd Hospital and later as a CNA at the Good Shepherd Hospital and the Good Samaritan Center in Hermiston. Linda owned and operated Lazy H Dance Apparel for several years.
She was a member of the Umatilla Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed time with her grandchildren, square dancing, traveling, diet Pepsi, chocolate Kisses, and was an avid Elvis fan.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Holden and wife, Laurie, Umatilla; Brian Holden and wife, Roberta, Pasco, Wash.; sister, Grace Cox, Olympia, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Mariah, David, Brianne and Nathaniel.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; and her parents.
A celebration of life service was held on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at the Umatilla Baptist Church.
A private family burial will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery.
