The Hermiston School Board appointed Bonnie Luisi on Monday to serve in Positon #5, due to the resignation of Maria Durón.
Luisi has been a Hermiston resident for 34 years and is a former district employee. She worked for HSD for 22 years, mostly in the Special Programs Department.
Luisi will serve in the appointed role through June 30, 2017. In May 2017, Luisi may run for election, and if elected, may fill the remaining term of office until June 2019.
“The Hermiston School District has played an important part in my life, as well as the life of my children,” said Luisi. “I have always been interested in serving on the board, and now is a great time to fulfill that goal.”
Former board member Durón resigned in July. She served on the school board for nine years and left to take a full time position with the district, as the Communications Officer and Community Relations Specialist.
