Hermiston School District Superintendent Dr. Fred Maiocco announced today that he will recommend Jerad Farley to serve as the next principal of Rocky Heights Elementary School, beginning July 1.
The Hermiston School Board will consider the appointment at its April 13 meeting. Farley was among three finalists for the job – the others being Dr. Michelle Jensen and Stacie Roberts, both currently with the Hermiston School District.
Farley currently serves as a district instructional coach at Wahitis Elementary School in the Othello School District. While serving in Othello, he also completed his administrative internship. Farley received his bachelor of arts in elementary education from Eastern Washington University in 2006.
Farley previously taught fifth and sixth grades. In 2011, he was named the Othello School District Teacher of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce, and in 2009 the Masonic Lodge awarded him Teacher of the Year. Farley was the district’s varsity football coach from 2007 to 2014 and head track coach from 2012 through this season.
“I am extremely grateful to the Othello School District and Wahitis Elementary School for the valuable experiences and incredible relationships I have built over the last seven years,” said Farley. “Although I will miss the wonderful staff and families in Othello, I look forward to working with the amazing team at Rocky Heights and the Hermiston School District in their quest for excellence.”
Farley will replace BJ Wilson, who will serve as special education director next school year.
