A Weston man has been arrested and jailed for allegedly stabbing a man in an altercation at the McKay Reservoir in Pendleton.
The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Quinn Patrick Countryman on two felony charges, second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, and a misdemeanor charge of tampering with physical evidence.
The sheriff’s office received a report from St. Anthony’s hospital on the night of June 16 of a 21-year-old male from Pendleton who was in the emergency room with a possible stab wound to his hand. A UCSO deputy responded and took an initial report before the victim was airlifted to an out-of-area hospital for surgery. Statements at that time indicated the victim had been out at McKay Reservoir earlier that evening with approximately 15 to 20 others. An argument between the victim and another male, later identified as Countrymen, resulted in a physical altercation in which Countryman had used a knife to assault the victim.
Interviews with witnesses and those involved eventually lead to the arrest of Countryman.
