An 85-year-old Hermiston man with severe dementia was found after walking away from his residence in the early morning hours on Monday.
Richard Bondurant was reported missing early Monday morning and was entered into the state and national law enforcement databases. Prior to being located, Bondurant was last seen on the 1500 block of W. Highland near Gotta Stop. Police found Bondurant on private property on the 1600 block of W. Highland Avenue Monday afternoon.
Hermiston police thanked the property owner where Bondurant was found. Although the owner was not home, permission was given for the police to search the area.
The Hermiston Police Department issued the following statement on its Facebook page:
“If not for that act, this could have possibly had a much worse outcome. We would also like to thank all the other agencies and volunteers who assisted us with the search.”
Bondurant was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
