Margaret Louise Jennings Tucker of Hermiston died on Nov. 2, 2022 in Hermiston at the age of 98.
She was born on May 12, 1924 in Redding, Iowa to Francis and Louise Jennings.
The family moved to Idaho, where Francis passed away in 1929. Louise subsequently married Richard Peckham, and the family moved to a farm near Melba, Idaho, where Margaret grew up and attended school.
Margaret met her husband, Ernest Tucker, in Boise. They were married on May 1, 1943, embarking on an adventure that lasted 73 years, produced three children, and took the family to 19 towns in nine states and two countries before the couple moved to Hermiston in 2010.
She was primarily a homemaker while her children were growing up. She later worked in property management before retirement. She was a talented knitter and produced hundreds of beautiful items over the years. She was a voracious reader, a great fan of movie musicals, and a formidable Scrabble player.
She is survived by daughters, Lynda Carraher of Umatilla and Lucinda Welenc of Severn, Md.; son, Richard Tucker of Everett, Wash.; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Byron Jennings and Robert Peckham; husband, Ernest; and grandson, Matthew Carraher.
At Margaret’s request, no services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Margaret’s name to the Vange John Memorial Hospice education fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
