Maria H. Mora of Boardman passed away surrounded by her family in Boardman on Feb. 23, 2023 at the age of 72.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1950 in Petersburg, Texas to Francisco and Elvira Garza Mora.
Maria grew up in south Texas, where she attended schools and graduated from high school. She worked in harvesting and traveled to Eastern Oregon annually for several years during the 1970s.
In 1980, she moved to Oregon permanently and had lived in the communities of Boardman and Irrigon since that time. She worked in food processing for Gourmet Foods in Boardman for several years. Maria’s passion was caring for children. In addition to caring for her own children, she also cared for her grandchildren, as well as the children of many community members throughout the years.
She is survived by her five sons, Eugene Muniz Jr., Francisco Muniz, Vicente Muniz, John Anthony Muniz and Pedro Muniz; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Mora, Joe Mora, Andrea Mora, Angie Mora, Lydia Mora and Toni Mora; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Maggie, Lupe, Sandy and Rogelio.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 78922 Olson Road, S.E., Boardman, followed by a funeral mass which will begin at 10 a.m. at the church.
Burial will follow in Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon.
