Mary Lou Griggs of Hermiston died on March 2, 2024 in Hermiston at the age of 85.
She was born on April 20, 1938 in Joy, Ky. to Jesse and Nelly Quertermous. She was the fifth of seven children.
In December 1957, Mary Quertermous was married to Edward Griggs and moved to Oregon shortly thereafter. Edward worked in construction out of Union for a number of years then moved to Hermiston, where they remained until they both passed away. They had a son, Dave, who passed on earlier and two daughters, Belinda Smith and Pam Griggs, both of whom reside in Hermiston.
Mary is known throughout the area for the fine upholstery work she did up until her death in the little shop behind her house, Mary’s Upholstery.
She is survived by her two daughters; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and a brother in Paducah, Ky.
A private interment will be in the Hermiston Cemetery.
