Maxine Elaine Cimmiyotti died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 in Hermiston with her children at her side at the age of 87.
She was born Dec. 6, 1926 in St. Helens to Charles H. “Charlie” and Verda “Mae” (Rubins) Norris. Maxine grew up and attended all 12 years of school in Arlington. She married John “Mick” Cimmiyotti in 1945 upon his discharge from the service and started their life on his family ranch in Kimberly.
They had eight children, Chuck Cimmiyotti and wife Joy, Judy Robinson and husband Roger, Scott Cimmiyotti and wife Renae, Bradley Cimmiyotti and wife Bonnie, Marcia Anderson and husband Larry, Phillip Cimmiyotti and wife Debbie, Blake Cimmiyotti, Pat Cimmiyotti and wife Rebecca. They have 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. They moved to Arlington in 1953 while raising their eight children.
In 1966 they moved to Huntington with her husband’s work. Then in 1974 they moved to Irrigon and lived there for 13 years before moving to Hermiston where they have lived since. Maxine was the Arlington High School May Day Queen and was active in their Alpha-Nu Sorority. But her love was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren following their many activities and sporting events. Maxine was an avid Mariners and Trailblazer fan.
She was preceded in death by her son, Chuck; parents, Charlie and Mae Norris; and brother, Leonard Norris.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Private Family buria followed at the Hermiston Cemetery.
