Hermiston voters will have the opportunity to choose its next mayor and municipal court judge when the May 17 ballots arrive in the mail.
The Hermiston City Council recently updated the city charter in which it extended the mayor’s term from two years to four. The length of term for municipal court judge is two years.
If two or fewer candidates run in the May election, the winner will be declared mayor or municipal court judge. If three or more file, the two candidates with the most votes will face each other in the November election.
Candidates for either the mayor or municipal court judge have until March 8 to file. Forms can be picked up at Hermiston City Hall.
