Mega Millions fever is sweeping the country.
With an estimated jackpot of $636 million for Mega Millions, literally millions of people are hoping to strike it rich tonight when the winning numbers are drawn. Tickets for the Mega Millions jackpot are on sale in Hermiston-area stores. The list of businesses selling tickets can be found here.
Mega Millions winning numbers are drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 8 p.m. PST. The last Mega Millions winner was in Maryland on Oct. 1 when the jackpot was $190 million.
The latest jackpot total of $636 million is just $20 million shy of the all-time biggest Mega Millions jackpot when three people shared the prize on March 29, 2012.
Not to damper anyone’s hopes, but in the history of the Mega Millions jackpot, no one from the state of Oregon has picked the winning numbers. Three people in the state of Washington, however, have won the Mega Millions jackpot. The winners came from Ephrata, Hoquiam and North Bend. The biggest winner, from Ephrata, won $190 in January 2011.
