Margaret Melinda Buwalda passed away on Aug. 10, 2022 in the comfort of her home due to complications of congestive heart failure at the age of 74.
Melinda was born on March 15, 1948 in Pendleton.
She was often known as Mel and her personal favorite, Nana. She was raised in Echo, and she created a wonderful life in the area. She loved camping, playing cards, riding four wheelers, and spending time with her family.
Melinda will be remembered for her sense of strength and stubbornness, her hospitality, and the love for her family.
Mel is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald Buwalda and their beloved overweight teacup chihuahua, Maggie Sue; her four children, David Bailey, Shirlan Bailey McKay (J.T.), Daina Bailey Srofe (Chris) and Darla Bailey Hunt; her sister and best friend, Joyce Jones; sisters-in-law, Barbara Christley (Mike), Patty Buwalda and Francine Sather; brother-in-law, Burt (Delphi) Buwalda; her granddaughters, Jessica, Laci, Makenzie (Tanner), Ashleigh (Casey), Jordan, Bailey and Destenee; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Stanfield Moose Lodge.
