He was born on July 13, 1945 to parents, Merle and Elura Hoffman Bartman. Merle was united in marriage to Dianne C. Dilworth on Nov. 7, 1969 in San Jacinto, Calif. He worked as the assistant grounds director in Riverside, Calif., for several years. They moved to Hermiston in the early 2000s. Merle worked in the security force at the Umatilla Chemical Depot until retiring in 2014. He attended New Hope Community Church in Hermiston.
Merle enjoyed genealogy, hiking, camping, the coast, horticulture, and time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons: Daniel Bartman & his wife Michelle, and Jason Lee Bartman & his wife Denise; grandchildren: Savannah May Diaz “Bartman”, Timothy Paul Tichy “Bartman”, Jamie Lynn Bartman, Robert Lee Bartman, Brooke Lynn Bartman, Bridget May Bartman, & Alexis Diane Bartman; numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Merle was preceded in death by his wife: Dianne Bartman, his parents, and a brother: Russell Bartman.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.
