More Roads Closed as Flooding Continues in Parts of Umatilla County

Flooding continues to impact many areas of Umatilla County and more roads have been closed as of today.

In Hermiston, the following roads have been closed:

  • Orchard Extension
  • Seymour Street
  • Hoosier Street
  • 23rd Street

Other western Umatilla County roads that have been closed as of Friday:

  • Highway 207
  • Echo Meadows
  • Stanfield Meadows
  • Reith Road
  • Thielson Road
  • Parts of Reith Road
  • Any roadway heading to and from Echo is closed due to the high water

Umatilla River high waters have caused flooding near Mission. Nearby roads closed due to Umatilla River flooding include:

  • Kirkpatrick Road at Highway 331
  • Cayuse Road, also known as Road 900, at North Cayuse Road and Cayuse Road
  • North Cayuse Road at intersection with Johnley Road
  • Between Cayuse and Mission:
  • River Road (Road #918) at N. Cayuse Road
  • White Road at intersection with River Road
  • Cayuse River Road at Cayuse Road (#900) and Cayuse River Road
  • Thorn Hollow Grade at Duff Road

Walla Walla River flooding has resulted in the following road closures:

  • Walla Walla River Road closed at 15th Street Bridge to end of road at Harris Park
  • Couse Creek Road closed from Walla Walla River east to Walla Walla River Road
  • Spofford Road closed at intersection with Milton Cemetery Road south to Walla Walla River Road
  • Cash Hollow Road at intersection with Kinnear
  • Lincton Mountain Road at intersection with Walla Walla River Road
  • County Road 525 from Powerline Road to North Fork Walla Walla River Road

  • CTUIR Warming Station
  • Mission Gym

The National Weather Service is forecasting continued rising waters through Friday.

If you have questions about flooding in Umatilla County, call 541-966-3671. Emergency management officials are urging residents who are under a flood warning to find safe shelter right away. Residents are warned not to walk, swim or drive through flood waters. Turn around and go the other way rather than risk drowning.

Stay off of bridges over fast-moving water and do not go near the river or walk on the levy.

Pendleton residents may expect to experience groundwater seeping into their basements. This is normal and will recede as the waters do.
