The first snowfall of the season arrived in the Hermiston area Tuesday morning and more is on its way, according to the National Weather Service.

Light snow fell overnight causing two-hour delays in Heppner, Ione, Helix and Pendleton. Hermiston schools started on time.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-teens tonight and patchy freezing fog is forecast between 4 and 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The high today is expected to be around 34 and will drop to about 27 degrees on Wednesday.

Snow is forecast for Thursday, with accumulation expected to be less than an inch. The weather forecast is calling for a chance of freezing rain or snow Friday night. Rain is expected on Saturday when the temperatures creep back up into the low-40s.
