The iCan Bike program is nearing its kick-off in Hermiston and more volunteers are needed.
The week-long program, which teaches individuals with disabilities to ride a bicycle, will get under way on Monday, June 24 at Armand Larive Middle School.
To sign up to volunteer, e-mail icanbikehermiston@gmail.com or call Tracy at 541-667-6021. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.
More information on the program can be found on the iCan Shine website.
iCan Shine is a nonprofit organization that collaborates with local organizations to host camps in their communities. This camp is hosted by the Hermiston School District and Hermiston Kiwanis. The program uses adapted equipment, trained professionals and volunteers. With 75 minutes of instruction over five days, more than 80 percent of riders learn to ride a conventional bicycle independently by the end of camp.
