Morrow County School District Assistant Superintendent George Mendoza has been recommended to become the next superintendent of the La Grande School District, according to the La Grande Observer.
The Observer reported that the La Grande School Board reached consensus to have contract negotiations begin between Mendoza and the school district’s legal counsel.
Mendoza was selected over another local finalist, Mike Kay, the Hermiston School District’s executive director of operations.
Mendoza has been the Morrow County School District assistant superintendent since 2011.
