Wenaha Group, Inc., with offices in Oregon and Washington, was recently selected by Morrow County to build new county office and administrative areas in Heppner.
Construction is taking place on three lots located next to the courthouse on Gilmore and Court Streets. Once the lots are re-platted, Wenaha Group will let out a contract for demolition of the existing buildings. A design team is working on the building size and footprint, and will collaborate with an architectural firm to create the final design. The $1.8 million project is expected to be about 8,000 square feet in size.
Prior to demolition of the buildings, Wenaha Group invited the Heppner Fire Department to conduct Fire and Rescue training exercises with various county and city fire departments using the structures.
“We reach out to the communities in which we have projects at every opportunity,” says Wenaha Group President Rob Quaempts. “We go to great lengths to use local supplies, workers, and vendors. This was an excellent use of the soon-to-be destroyed buildings.”
The completion date is expected to be April 2015.
Wenaha Group, Inc. is a General Contracting and Construction Management firm headquartered in Pendleton.
