Winter’s snowy assault on eastern Oregon continues today as most area schools are closed for the day.
All schools in the cities of Hermiston, Umatilla, Stanfield and Echo as well as all schools in Morrow County are closed for the day due to inclement weather. Boardman City Hall is opening three hours later today.
The National Weather Service out of Pendleton has issued another winter weather advisory for the region. More snow fell overnight and gusty winds are making for severe conditions in many parts of the Lower Columbia Basin and the foothills of the Blue Mountains.
The weather service also issue an avalanche warning for Union and Wallowa counties today.
Relief should come tomorrow and Saturday. In Hermiston, the high is expected to reach 45 on Friday and 43 on Saturday.
